Comments Guidelines

Here are just a few guidelines on commenting on Pushing the Wave. They are not meant to be comprehensive but rather outline a few principles that help debate thrive.

Be nice

My grandmother used to say: If you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say it.

That doesn't mean that there should be no debate, no disagreement or no dialogue. On the contrary, lively, healthy debate is essential for us all to understand each other's point of view. What that does mean is that we should always be respectful and kind to one another. In other words, criticise ideas, not people. So no:
  • name-calling
  • ad hominem attacks
  • responses to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • knee-jerk contradiction

All such comments will be removed, as will hateful, inflammatory or harassing comments.

Add something

Look at what's been said before, and think about your response before commenting. Otherwise you're just recycling hot air. And certainly don't copy and paste.

Stay relevant

Don't stray off topic, link to other articles unless its strictly relevant, or promote anything. Any comment that links to a product or article on another site will almost always be removed.

Say what?

All comments in English or French please, otherwise they will be removed.
